Today I’m sharing a traditional family-oriented dish called Patawe Curry.
This recipe is made with steamed gram flour (besan) blocks mixed with fresh mint and spices, then lightly fried and added to a rich, flavorful curry.
Patawe Curry with Steamed Gram Flour

Ingredients for Patawe (Steamed Blocks)
• Gram Flour (Besan) – 2 cups
• Fresh Mint Leaves – 2 bunches
• Red Chili Powder – 1 teaspoon
• Crushed Red Chili – 1 teaspoon
• Coriander & Cumin Powder – 1 teaspoon
• Garam Masala – 1 teaspoon
• Chat Masala – 1 teaspoon
• Salt – to taste
• Water – as needed
Method – Making Patawe Blocks
1 In a bowl, add besan, finely chopped mint leaves, and all dry spices.
2 Add salt and mix well.
3 Slowly add water and make a thick batter.
4 Pour the batter into a greased tray or plate.
5 Steam for 20–25 minutes until firm.
6 Let it cool, then cut into small cubes.
7 Deep fry or shallow fry the cubes until golden brown.
Ingredients for Curry
• Oil – 1 cup
• Fenugreek Seeds (Methi Dana) – 1 teaspoon
• Salt – 1 teaspoon
• Red Chili Powder – 1½ teaspoons
• Coriander Powder – 1 teaspoon
• Turmeric Powder – 1 teaspoon
• Garam Masala – 1 teaspoon
• Chat Masala – 1 teaspoon
Method – Curry
1 Heat oil in a pan on medium flame.
2 Add fenugreek seeds and let them crackle.
3 Add all dry spices and salt, mix well.
4 Cook until oil separates.
5 Add fried patawe pieces into the curry.
6 Mix gently and cook for 5–7 minutes on low flame.
Serve hot with roti or naan. Enjoy with family
