This is a classic Pakistani comfort food that is simple, delicious, and perfect for lunch or dinner.

🥣 Ingredients for Daal
1 teaspoon red chili powder
1 teaspoon crushed red chili🍚 Ingredients for Rice (Chawal)
2 cups rice (soaked beforehand)
3 glasses water
3 teaspoons salt
3 tablespoons oil
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons oil
3 glasses water
Daal (as required)
🍆 Ingredients for Baghare Baingan
½ kg round brinjals (baingan), cut into 4 pieces each
2 teaspoons fennel seeds (saunf)
2 teaspoons coriander seeds
2 teaspoons cumin seeds
1 teaspoon nigella seeds (kalonji)
½ teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon red chili powder
½ teaspoon crushed red chili
1 teaspoon salt
½ cup oil
3 tablespoons tamarind paste (imli)
🔥 Ingredients for Tadka / Baghār (for Daal)
3–4 garlic cloves (finely chopped)
4–6 whole dried red chilies (crushed)
½ cup oil
2 teaspoons cumin seeds
Daal Chawal with Baghare Baingan – Cooking Method (English)
1️⃣ Cooking the Daal
Take a pot and add the dal with 3 glasses of water.
Add:
1 tsp red chili powder
1 tsp crushed red chili
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp oil
3 tbsp tamarind paste
Cook on medium heat until the dal becomes soft and fully cooked. Stir occasionally.
Mash slightly if you like a smooth texture.2️⃣ Cooking the Rice (Chawal)
Rinse the rice thoroughly and soak for 20–30 minutes.
In a separate pot, bring 3 glasses water to a boil.
Add the soaked rice, 3 tsp salt, and 3 tbsp oil.
Cook until the rice is soft and water is absorbed. Fluff with a fork.
3️⃣ Preparing Baghare Baingan (No Frying)
Take the brinjals (eggplants) and cut them into 4 piecmedium heat.
Cook until the brinjals are soft and tender. Do not fry them golden.
4️⃣ Making Tadka / Tempering for Daal
Heat ½ cup oil in a small pan.
Add:
2 tsp cumin seeds
3–4 chopped garlic cloves
4–6 dried red chilies
Fry until garlic turns golden brown.
Pour this tadka over the cooked dal and mix gently.es each.

Add all spices together:
2 tsp fennel seeds
2 tsp coriander seeds
2 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp nigella seeds (kalonji)
½ tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp red chili powder
½ tsp crushed red chili
1 tsp salt
3 tbsp tamarind paste
Add the cut brinjals and a little water. Cover and cook on
medium heat.
Cook until the brinjals are soft and tender. Do not fry them golden.
4️⃣ Making Tadka / Tempering for Daal
Heat ½ cup oil in a small pan.
Add:
2 tsp cumin seeds
3–4 chopped garlic cloves
4–6 dried red chilies
Fry until garlic turns golden brown.
Pour this tadka over the cooked dal and mix gently.
