Your Faith Needs Love: How to Keep Prayers from Being Hindered

Cleansed by the Blood: 1John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. “I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.” (Hebrews 8:12; cf. Hebrews 10:17) “As far as the east is from the west…” (Psalm 103:12). When you confess, the blood of Jesus cleanses your heart. You don’t have to carry what God has already removed.

Why some prayers stall: “Faith works through love.” (Galatians 5:6) You can have knowledge, bold words, and even mountain-moving faith—but without love it profits nothing (1 Corinthians 13:1–3). Jesus also tied prayer and forgiveness together (Mark 11:24–25).

Choose love when it’s tough: Turning the other cheek isn’t weakness—it’s spiritual wisdom (Luke 6:27–36; Matthew 5:39). Unforgiveness opens the door to “every evil work” (James 3:16), but mercy shuts that door (James 2:13; Ephesians 4:31–32; Colossians 3:13).
