This piece is inspired by the Berserkir, legendary Norse warriors described in early sagas and skaldic poetry.
Their name translates to “bear-shirts,” referring to the animal pelts or bear-associated identity they adopted in battle. Unlike ordinary fighters, the Berserkir were said to fight with overwhelming strength, endurance, and fearlessness, entering a state known as berserksgangr — a controlled but terrifying battle fury. Ancient sources describe them as warriors who felt no pain, broke enemy lines, and fought until exhaustion or death.
Often associated with Odin, the Berserkir embodied raw martial power, serving as champions, bodyguards, and shock troops whose presence alone could decide the outcome of battle.
