Ardha Salabhasana, is a preparatory pose before Salabhasana. The name Salabhasana comes from the Sanskrit word 'shalabh' which means 'grasshopper'. So Ardha Salabhasana is the half grasshopper pose.
Lie down on your stomach with your toes on the floor. Place your hands underneath the body with the palms resting on the ground. Place your chin on the floor. Inhale and raise one leg as high as possible without bending the knees. Hold the position for about 30 seconds. Exhale and slowly lower the leg to the floor. Repeat with the other leg.
Effect: The asana helps tighten the muscles around the hips and strengthens the back and leg muscles. The abdominal organs are greatly benefited from regular practice.
Yoga Demonstration by: Yoga Guru Jose Vallicherry
