If you remember back in July when I started getting back on Keto, I weighed in at 289.0 pounds. I was tired all the time, my body ached when I moved it, and I found simple tasks almost impossible. My body cannot function well at that weight and I knew something had to change.
I chose the ketogenic lifestyle because I had found success with it in the past. My body responds well to limiting carbs and focusing on protein and fat for energy. My allergy to wheat is addressed by being strict with Keto. The first month of Keto, I saw some weight loss, but was struggling to maintain ketosis. I figured out that some of the meals I was consuming from a delivery service were keeping me out of ketosis and stalling my weight loss.
This month I have been diligent with watching what I consume, the ingredients, my body's reaction, and my level of ketosis. It has made such a difference! In the middle of the month I was very sick for about 13 days. I struggled to want to eat and nothing within keto sounded good. I pushed through and made sure to stick closely to plan so I didn't go off the rails and have to start from scratch.
It worked. I had a slow start to weight loss this month, but figured out through tracking my meals, that I wasn't consuming enough calories. I was in a sense putting my body into starvation mode and it was holding on to weight. When I increased my caloric intake to match my needs, the weight began to fall off.
This month my husband and I attended a wedding out of town. Weddings are difficult to remain keto and this one was no exception. We ate a hearty breakfast that morning, adapted what we could from the wedding food options, and then went to dinner after and ate a good meal with macros we needed. Being out and about, I think is the most difficult part of keto. It is almost embarrassing to ask for something different. I have to remind myself that I need to advocate for myself first. Even if it is a little inconvenient or embarrassing. I am in a season I need to put myself first so I can continue pouring into others lives.
So today, I weighed in at 260.2 pounds. I am feeling fantastic! Now, I know that I won't always lose this much weight every month and that is okay! I am going to start measuring so I know inches lost, compare how clothes are fitting, and just how I am feeling overall. I have a long way to go but I am enjoying these successes now.
