It was my first day in Nicaragua, an I was aiming to arrive at my new Workaway project that evening. I took what looked like the shorted route on the map, not realising this meant dirt track roads that curved around mountains, and in fact driving triple the distance I would have if I took the 'longer' route on the map.
My hitchhiking driver apologised and said I had to get out of the lorry because he couldn't drive any further, the whole road was blocked with bricks. So I started to walk. I walked for hours and hours until it started to get dark, and in the exact same moment that I thought I should try to find a place to camp, a voice called out to me. 'Stop stop, what are you doing here'?
I said I was just walking and didn't have a particular purpose in this place. Sarah then invited me to stay the night at her house.
