NEW CityNews 24/7 Digital News Channel Montage - (April 12, 2022)

Описание: Rogers has debuted a new digital-only 24/7 news service, available on citynews.ca and Amazon Prime Video. It complements a new online streaming service, Citytv+. It is the second digital-only news streaming service in Canada, after Global's, which has been streaming since early 2020. This is a short montage. There wasn't much to record, as it's mostly just a loop of CityNews stories.

My initials impressions are not very good. The L-frame is very slick and is better than Global's, but the video stream is not very engaging. It is a very "copy-and-paste" feeling broadcast. It feels like a playlist of CityNews content playing on repeat, including inserts from CityNews Radio with B-roll. Like other CityNews newscasts, there is no anchor, and stories simply play one after another, with the exception of some voiceovers read from the CityNews newsroom. There is not much cohesion, and the playlist nature of it causes some stories to repeat within 5-10 minutes, sometimes packaged differently. They definitely have some work to do to make this feel like a news channel worth watching. Like Global's stream, CityNews 24/7 will stream CityNews programs like Breakfast Television live as they air on TV, as well as bring live press conferences.
