Former Australian foreign minister Alexander Downer discusses Jacinta Nampijinpa Price's recent defection to the Liberal Party on Thursday.
Her move could have implications for the party leadership structure as she hints at potentially contesting the deputy leadership position.
“She is fearless, she absolutely goes out and makes her arguments, unapologetically and with great determination,” Mr Downer told Sky News host Chris Kenny.
“I think she is one of the most important centre-right politicians in Australia of her generation.
“A very good sign for the Liberal Party, an indigenous woman who has philosophical roots deeply embedded in liberal philosophy, that is a great thing for the Liberal Party.”
