A tragic and shocking incident has come to light from Champagarh area under Balanga police station in Puri district, where a 12-year-old girl lost her life due to a severe head lice infection, allegedly caused by family negligence.

The deceased, Lakshmipriya Sahu, daughter of Lingaraj Sahu, was a Class 6 student at a local school. She had been suffering from head lice for several months. Despite home remedies, her condition worsened, leading to a serious scalp infection.

Due to embarrassment and worsening condition, she stopped going outside. Her illness went unnoticed until she started vomiting blood three days ago. She was rushed to Puri Medical College, where she died during treatment on Saturday night.

Local social activists have expressed grief and raised serious questions about parental responsibility, child health awareness, and timely medical care. The incident has shocked the entire locality.
