Approaches without Proxies or Instruments.
In this video we consider possible approaches to identification of the causal effects of the policy. In particular, we consider approaches that do not rely on the availability of proxies or instruments. Each approach requires some restrictions on the confound. In accordance with our view that such restrictions should be motivated on economic grounds, our discussion emphasizes and contrasts the economic content of different possible restrictions.
