Описание:
AUTOVON stood for AUTOmatic VOice Network and was the communication system used by the US Dept of Defense dating back to the 1940s until the early 1990s. This site served RAF Martlesham Heath, and it was said that the communication equipment helped with the Apollo Moon Missions in the 60s.
This installation, between Martlesham and Ipswich is no longer working but is home to the Suffolk Aviation Heritage Museum.
It was a bit of a misty morning when I arrived at the site, so the footage isn't the best, even after some severe post production!
