The tsessebe are known for their exceptional speed and agility, and can reach speeds of up to 90 km/h (56 mph) when sprinting. This makes them one of the fastest antelope species in Africa. Tsessebe are also known for their endurance and can maintain a high speed over long distances. They have a distinctive appearance with a reddish-brown coat and curved horns that sweep backwards.
Tsessebe are social animals and their basic group structure consists of small breeding groups, each comprising of six to ten cows with their offspring. Bachelor groups and territorial bull herds may sometimes number up to 30 strong.
