Northwood Industries is a job shop specializing in rapid prototyping and short run production, established in 1968. In 2009 they purchased their first Haas, a VF-6, followed more than a decade later by a pair of UMC-1000’s and a UMC-1250.
According to Kurt Miller, President of Northwood, the Haas UMC’s allow Northwood to get to cutting chips quicker and achieve the accuracies they need in a shorter amount of time.
In this Haas Insider video, Lead Machinist Tim Rutkowski shares details about two of the jobs currently being machined on their UMC’s, as well as his impressions of their capabilities.
