With AI, Knowledge Is Cheap. Understanding Is Everything

People say AI hallucinates. Sometimes it does. But humans get things wrong too. We still trust human-made content online, even when it’s flawed. When AI makes a mistake, we often dismiss everything it does.

That doesn’t make sense to me.

If an AI explanation helps me finally understand a hard concept, it has value. Learning isn’t about purity. It’s about clarity. It’s about whether something clicks.

There’s a big difference between knowing facts and understanding them. Understanding lets you apply what you’ve learned. That’s the real goal of education.

Education was never just about training and molding people. It was also about guiding them and drawing learning out of them. We’ve forgotten that.

AI can help with that. It can meet learners where they are and support curiosity. It doesn’t replace teachers. It supports understanding.

And understanding is what matters most.
