January 28-30th Swelll Alert Report.
The North Atlantic winter continues pumping, delivering strong storms and swells to Europe. A developing low is packing strong winds in a well-aimed fetch, sending a powerful swell toward the Bay of Biscay. Expect it to build into Portugal on Wednesday, peaking overnight at 6-7+ meters (14-15 seconds), then tapering off through Thursday, with XXL surf early.
However, like recent big pulses, conditions will be poor for most of Portugal, especially exposed spots like Nazaré, as onshore winds and jumbled swell persist. Better options include Spain’s North Coast on Wednesday into early Thursday and various breaks in France lighting up Thursday and Friday.
