Traditional Fish Molee | Kerala Style Fish Molly | Fish Curry with Coconut Milk

If there's one dish that brings back memories of my mother's cooking, it's Fish Molee. Today, I'm sharing the traditional recipe for this Kerala specialty, just as my mother learned it over eighty years ago. I hope you enjoy!
Ingredients:
3 Porgy fish
2 red onions, thinly sliced
4 green chilis, sliced
1 1/2- inch piece ginger, thinly sliced
2 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp salt
5 sprigs curry leaves
1 medium tomato, diced
1 1/2 cups coconut milk
1/2 heavy cream
1 tsp vinegar
enough coconut oil for frying fish
Fish Marinade:
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 1/2 tbsp red chili powder (50/50 kashmiri chili and regular chili)
3/4 tsp black pepper powder
3/4 tsp fennel seed powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp vinegar
3-4 tbsp hot water
Masala for Curry:
2 1/2 tbsp coriander powder
1 tsp fennel seed powder
1/2 tsp garam masala powder
1/4 turmeric powder
2-3 tbsp hot water
Tempering:
1 1/2 tbsp coconut oil
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1 dry red chili
2 sprigs curry leaves
