The F/A-18 Hornet is a twin-engine, supersonic, carrier-capable multirole fighter jet originally developed by McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing) and Northrop for the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. It has seen extensive use since the 1980s and has been exported to several allied nations.

Key Features of the F/A-18 Hornet
Multirole Capability: Can switch between fighter and attack missions mid-flight (hence the "F/A" designation).

Carrier-Capable: Designed for aircraft carrier operations with reinforced landing gear and tail hook.

Twin-Engine Design: Uses General Electric F404 engines for high maneuverability and redundancy.

Advanced Avionics: Equipped with radar, electronic warfare systems, and modern targeting pods.

Combat Proven: Used in major conflicts like the Gulf War, Iraq War, and Afghanistan.

Variants
F/A-18A/B Hornet – Original versions (A = single-seat, B = two-seat).

F/A-18C/D Hornet – Upgraded avionics and weapons (C = single-seat, D = two-seat, often used for training or as a strike aircraft).

F/A-18E/F Super Hornet – A larger, more advanced version (E = single-seat, F = two-seat).

EA-18G Growler – Electronic warfare variant for jamming enemy radars.

Operators
United States Navy & Marine Corps (phasing out in favor of the F-35C and Super Hornet).
