Manat Nahin Tero Kunvar Kanhai, a Thumri composed by Pt. Bindadin Maharajji, is performed by Nishant Panicker, student of Vibha Ramaswami at KathaKonnect Dance Academy, Bangalore. Nishant is singing himself, live along with showing 'Bhav' , expressions, in Kathak style.
This choreography is adapted from the original Kathak dance choreography of the living legend Padma Vibhushan Pt. Birju Maharajji, from whom we learnt this Thumri at his workshop organized by Smt. Renu Sharma ji, Kalashram Mumbai. We are immensely grateful to Maharajji, Saswati Didi and Renu Didi for the opportunity to learn this Thumri.
Nishant's father, Dilip Panicker, accompanied him on Tabla.
Nishant performed this as part of his Kathak Solo Debut, Ranga Manch Pravesh which was done under the guidance of his teacher, Vibha Ramaswami.
