POCSO case in Jajpur road | Two arrested over minor’s pregnancy, illegal abortion

Описание: In a shocking development from Jajpur Road, police have arrested two individuals in connection with the alleged pregnancy and abortion of a 16-year-old minor girl. The arrests were made by Jajpur Road Police Station under relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).

The accused have been identified as 70-year-old Padmanabh Satpathi of Kopond village and Manoj Kumar Nayak, owner of a local nursing home. Both were produced before the local court in connection with Case No. 133/26. Police officials stated that the doctor who allegedly conducted the abortion is currently absconding.

According to sources, the minor girl was admitted to Lakshmi Hospital after complaining of stomach pain and bleeding, where the abortion was reportedly carried out. A team from district health authorities has inspected the nursing home, which is scheduled to be sealed after existing patients are discharged.

In a separate but related incident, a newborn baby girl was found abandoned outside the accused’s residence. The infant was rescued, treated at the Community Health Centre, and later handed over to the District Child Protection Department.

Further investigation is ongoing.
