Odisha Vigilance Seizes Rs 4 Crore from Mining Dept Deputy Director | Mega Bribe Trap

Описание: What began as a Rs 30,000 bribe trap has snowballed into one of the largest anti-corruption operations in Odisha.

Debabrata Mohanty, Deputy Director of Mines, Cuttack Circle, was caught allegedly accepting Rs 30,000 from a licensed coal trader.

Subsequent raids on his Bhubaneswar flat, Bhadrak ancestral home, and Cuttack office uncovered over Rs 4 crore in cash, along with gold and disproportionate assets.

Preliminary investigations revealed a two-storey house of 2,400 sq. ft. in Bhubaneswar, 130 grams of gold, and other unaccounted assets.

Vigilance officials described this as the biggest cash seizure in the agency’s history, highlighting systemic corruption in the mining department.

Authorities are now investigating how the unaccounted wealth was accumulated and taking further action against those involved.
