Acting Deputy Chief Police Officer Justine Gough addressing the media in relation to the five firearm incidents in the past 10 days.
Any firearm incident is of great concern to ACT Policing and we reiterate to the community that these incidents are targeted and not random attacks.
We urge the community to be vigilant and if you know, see or hear anything regarding illegal firearm activity, please come forward to police. Information can be provided anonymously and rewards of up to $1000 may be provided.
Canberra remains one of the safest cities to live in Australia, and firearm offences have declined by 42 per cent in the past five years.
Anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious overnight in Kaleen or Waramanga is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via https://act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
