ADDITIONAL INFORMATION & CONTEXT
Although a dentist by profession, Lytle S. Adams was a self-styled inventor. In addition to failing to stop world war two with bat bombs, he also proposed the idea of fried chicken dispensing vending machines, to boost American troop morale. This idea also failed to come to fruition.
Based on the data gathered in the initial bat bomb tests, it's estimated that a successful bat bomb attack would have actually killed more people than the atomic bombs did. Imagine the alternate history. A cold war, where America, Russia and the rest of the world slowly build up stockpiles of bats while eyeing each other up with suspicion.
The bats used in the tests were the Mexican Free-Tailed bat, specifically chosen because of their ability to carry a significant payload equal to their own bodyweight.
