In this first episode, we're looking at some of the most bizarre ways that people have died throughout history.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION & CONTEXT
It's claimed that Aeschylus received a prophecy that he would die by being hit on the head by a falling object. Paranoid about this, he spent as much time outdoors as he could. Unfortunately, we all know what happened next.
It's unclear whether Mael challenged Sigurd to the 40 man battle or the other way around. Also as well as ruling Orkney and the Shetland Islands, Sigurd is said to have controled a large portion of the north of Scotland before his death.
The "barrel" Bobby Leach went over Niagara Falls in was actually a purpose built metal capsule. Whereas Annie Taylor, the actual first person to go over the falls, really did it in a proper wooden barrel and didn't suffer anywhere near the level of injuries that Bobby did.
This video was inspired by OverSimplifed (who I also happen to work for) and the Half-Arsed History podcast. Both of which I highly recommend.
