Athletes often get stuck thinking they need a big plan sorted out, but no one tells them: it's OK not to know what's next. 🤷♂️ When you're used to operating in a highly routine-based environment with expectations from yourself, teammates, and a packed calendar, suddenly having complete freedom can be overwhelming. What do you do with all that time?
This is when athletes can fall into bad habits - getting disconnected, socially isolated, and even depressed. But there ARE things you can do to help: maintain some kind of routine, be part of something bigger, and use your network. Don't be afraid to speak to people who've walked that path before you.
My advice? Start planning BEFORE you're in the retirement space. What strengths do you have? What passions fire you up? How can you take those into what's next? The transition doesn't have to break you. 💪
