The bench press is a popular exercise that targets the chest, shoulders, and triceps. To perform the bench press, lie flat on a bench with your feet on the floor and grasp the barbell with your hands slightly wider than shoulder-width apart. Lower the bar to your chest, pause for a moment, and then push the bar back up to the starting position. Proper form is important to avoid injury and maximize the benefits of the exercise. Variations of the bench press include using dumbbells, changing the grip width, and adjusting the angle of the bench.
