Is This the Bit We’ll Regret? | Edwardian Farmhouse Renovation (Ep. 11)

Описание: Edwardian farmhouse renovation (Ep. 11): we start by cutting bricks out to get needle supports in place and properly support the wall above.

It’s one of those drizzly mornings where the view is… a skip, and the motivation is suspiciously high. We’re working on the kitchen-to-courtyard wall, setting up acros, sliding needles in, and trying to make the structural work look calmer than it feels.

Bernard’s been welding and fabricating (including a boot plate/fish plate/flange, depending who you ask), while I’m doing my best not to “help” in a way that makes everything harder. These are the jobs that matter, the ones you only want to do once… and get right.

In between all that, there’s proper family-life reality too, Noah’s “helping”, we’re pushing the quad back after it dies, picking snowdrops for Nanna, and doing the Sunday scaffold set-up so the bricklayer can come in and make it all look like we knew what we were doing.

By the end of the day, the scaffold’s in, the openings are ready, and I’m already thinking ahead: a bit of tidying, an admin day, an architect visit, and the heating quotes that I’m trying not to think about.
