Описание: Classical theory of paramagnetism proposed by Langevin has been described. Langevin considered a paramagnetic gas in which each atom or molecule possesses a permanent magnetic moment. When the gas is subjected to an external magnetic field, state of magnetization is determined by two factors namely, applied magnetic field and the thermal agitation. The former tends to align the atomic or molecular dipoles on the line of applied field and the latter works to disorganize the orderly state so produced. At a given temperature,a kind of statistical equilibrium is established with majority of molecular dipoles aligned on the line of the field and the specimen acquires magnetization.
