One of only 2 CSL classics still working, the CSL Tadoussac passes under the Glendale Avenue Bridge, as she headed towards Lock 3. On this run, the Tadoussac wasn't carrying her usual cargo of cement clinker, but rather she was taking a load of salt from Fairport, OH to Toronto, ON.
The 730 foot CSL Tadoussac was built at Collingwood (ON) Shipbuilding and launched in 1969, as the last pilothouse forward freighter built for CSL. At the conclusion of the 2000 shipping season, she was sent to Port Weller Shipyards for upgrades, which included the widening of her hull (which produced her trademark side bustles) and the replacement of her self-unloading machinery.
The Glendale Avenue Bridge, also known as Welland Canal Bridge 5 was built in the 1920's utilizing Parker through truss construction. The century old bridge is one of only 3 vertical lift bridges in use on the Welland Canal. The other bridges are all of the bascule style.
Recorded on December 23rd, 2025.
