Water hardness has a significant impact on the taste of coffee and functionality of your machine. The high mineral content in hard water is the main cause of oil and scale build-up in espresso machines. This is why it is important to test your water source and hardness, which you can do in one step.

Directions:
1. Dip the test strip in the water tank before placing it into the machine.
2. If your water hardness is either four or five when tested, we strongly recommend that you change to an alternate filtering water source as this might affect the coffee flavor.
3. It is important to remember not to use any distilled water or water with zero or low mineral content as this will affect the taste of your coffee and functionality of your machine.
