The Special Investigating Unit’s mandate is to investigate serious malpractices or maladministration relating to state institutions, state assets, and public money. Any conduct which may seriously harm the interests of the public is their concern, and they have the right to establish a special tribunal to hear civil matters. While the SIU has investigated several cases, many people still do not know what happens once these reports are concluded.
The SIU head of communications, Kaizer Kganyago, elaborates.
