If you experience:
• Weakness when pushing your arm down
• Shoulder fatigue when supporting your body with your arms
• Difficulty engaging the back of your shoulder
This exercise may help.
This supine shoulder extension isometric focuses on building strength in the muscles on the back side of the shoulder.
The goal is to drive the upper arm down into the ground using the rear deltoid and lat rather than forcing movement through the joint.
Start gradually and ramp up pressure until you reach the desired intensity.
Avoid common compensations like:
• The shoulder lifting toward the ceiling
• Your torso rotating
• Losing stability through the trunk
Instead, keep the position stable and let the muscles on the back of the shoulder do the work.
Start around 10–20% effort and build gradually.
Mobility and control often improve when the body gains confidence producing force in the position.
