Indonesia is a diverse country, they are literally thousands of different ethnics with their rich cultures. But if you need to learn just one ethnic culture for starter, there would be Javanese because of their dominant influence. This is not to say other cultures aren't worth our attention. I am just saying learning Javanese culture is a great starting point.

Batik (Bahasa Indonesia)
Indonesian clothes/textiles by wax-resist dyeing technique. It's made either by drawing dots or lines of wax. This technique is originated from Java island. Batik is commonly worn in various ceremonies, tradition and celebrations. some even wear it daily.

Blangkon (Javanese) / Belangkon (Bahasa Indonesia)
Traditional Javanese headgear worn by men and made of batik fabric.

Nasi tumpeng (Bahasa Indonesia)
Cone-shaped rice dish with side dishes of vegies and meat. This Javanese cuisine is usually featured in Indonesian festive ceremonies.

Sungkem (verb) or Sungkeman (noun) - Javanese / Bahasa Indonesia (adopted as mainstream)
The act of bowing and kissing the feet or knees of a respected person. This ritual is commonly performed during wedding ceremonies and Idulfitri celebrations. Sungkeman is a gesture of respect and is often carried out by children to their parents or by individuals to elders in the family to seek forgiveness or ask for blessings. "Kissing the ring" is probably the closest equivalent in Western world.

Going back to hometown or village to visit family (especially parents) or social gathering. This term is used commonly used by migrant or migrant workers during holiday season.
Another popular term is "pulang kampung" literally means going back to village.

Lebaran (Bahasa Indonesia)
Indonesian popular term for Islamic official holiday Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. Many people do "mudik" (see above) during this period.
