It’s a bit odd, but I like action verbs. Yes, you heard correctly action verbs.
I’m preparing for a TEDx talk where I’m focusing on top tips for coaching and mentoring Millennials, and thought I would thumb through Millennials Matter to see what tips I had included in here, with action verbs that start with “s.” I think these are helpful for us as we’re working with our Millennials today. Listen to these ... Speak a word of encouragement. Spot a talent. Stretch out a hand to help, and we can also help them see humor in life. Set smart-goals. Stop accepting excuses. Stretch their comfort zone everyday. Celebrate “no.” No is not the end of the world as we know.
And here’s one for all of us mentors and Millennials: Let’s set down our phones so that we can connect ... really connect with each other.
I trust these top tips are helpful for you, as you’re mentoring, coaching, leading and managing your Millennial.
