thoughts-
*disclaimer: these switches were sent over by unikeys to review, they did not review or have any input on the video or its contents. these thoughts are all my own.
TLDR- really nice sounding switch, full and loud but not at all shrill. there is some ticking but it's not bad at all. really light spring and short travel could make for an excellent gaming switch. or if you just prefer shorter travel and a lighter spring, they are super cozy to type on.
INTRO
the wingtree km16 is an in house design from wingtree and features a LY stem(3.3mm travel), PC top housing, pa66 nylon bottom housing and 45g spring. these are I believe one of the first switches to use a LY stem from wingtree.
I was really impressed with the yuying linear and tactiles from wingtree but the yunie variants that had upe stems and some really bad ticking, though they did sound and feel great. so was a little worried with these for ticking issues with the LY stem.
SOUND
the sound on these is super full and balanced. they definitely lean a bit on the deeper side but I would still consider these a clacky switch. the volume is a also very well balanced, they arent super super loud or muted, just enough volume imo. compared to some of the switches in the comparison portion I would say these are a fair bit quieter then both pa and sunset gleam, but louder than the yuyings or the cosmic purples. I do wish these had a nylon top, but the top out sound isn't too bad tbh.
QUALITY / FEEL
the quality on these overall is very solid, very consistent lubing through the whole batch. not quite as tight as hmx, there is a tiny bit of stem wobble but its not bad at all tbh. as long as there isn't any syringe effect and its not super loose im happy XD. there is almost zero scratch with these guys, super smooth. there is a bit of ticking with these, but its not nearly as bad as the yunie or some of the other switches like the canglan v3 or toast, as of now it doesnt bother me. it does sometimes get worse with use, but I havent noticed that with these. though swapping keycaps or something often could make it worse. the softer materials stems generally have this problem but doesnt necessarily mean it will tick more.
the keycap fitment is not bad though honestly, it is a bit loose but not so loose where the keycaps just fly off lmaoo.
these do feel really good to type on though- super smooth and even with the short travel and light spring the bottom out isn't fatiguing.
FINAL THOUGHTS
pretty impressed so far with the km16 and wingtree. they sound and feel great to type on. my only complaint is with the ticking but its not too bad. some switches I just cant put up with it, be these are totally fine.
if you like silky smooth switches though, these are a great option. probably one of the smoothest switches ive tried in a while.
the light spring and short travel also make these really nice to game with. I've started playing rivals a bunch now so I can finally comment on this XD. they do also come with a led diffuser if you like to use rgb.
they are clacky switches but not so loud that it distracts from the game. really enjoyed these overall, dont think you can go wrong with these guys.
for a relatively new manufacture, wingtree is already putting out some great switches.
thanks for stopping by and I hope you found the video and review helpful! 💙
