H.R. Giger (1940-2014) was a Swiss surrealist artist famous for his nightmarish and otherworldly creations. His art style, known as "biomechanical," seamlessly blends human forms with machinery, creating disturbing yet captivating imagery. Initially working with ink and airbrush, he later expanded his practice to include sculpture, furniture design, and film.
Giger's most famous contribution was his design of the iconic extraterrestrial creature in Ridley Scott's film "Alien" (1979), earning him an Academy Award for Visual Effects.
