It has been a while since my last video in the Focus RS Carbon series but I am back now with a cool new product that became available at the exact right time for me in terms of needing such a product and also it re-ignites the carbon passion / obsession for my Ford Focus RS MK3!

The new carbon fiber mod is 'Carbon Fibre Front Arch Guards' from the MK3 Focus RS Club store!

Recently, I installed the SiCo Developments 12mm spacers for both style and function and with that moving of the wheels outwards from the arches, comes the potential issue of increased stones / grit / dirt being thrown at the body of the car from the wheels.

The traditional solution to this would be mud flaps, much like the ones that I had from Montune / Rally Armor on my old MK7 Fiesta ST or equivalents such as those from RallyFlapz.

I, however, wasn't sure if that was the look that I wanted to go down with my MK3 Focus RS. I did enjoy having the RallyArmor mud flaps on the Fiesta ST but always wondered if they were a bit much in terms of styling, especially at the rear, and also if they stuck out too far sideways would they be causing a negative aerodynamic effect my introducing drag?

Apart from satisfying my love of carbon fibre, these Carbon Fibre Front Arch Guards from the MK3 Focus RS Club ticked the boxes to address the above concerns.

They are only for the front arches so nothing on the rear keeps the lower key, cleaner look that I really enjoy with the RS over my Fiesta ST, especially now with the SD spacers being installed and giving that extra aggressive stance. I don't see this as being an issue either as I see the front as being where the 'flaps' need to be as the rear wheels will just throw the stones out the back of the car which doesn't affect me!

As you will then also see during the install, there are no holes pre-drilled in the pieces of carbon so part of the install process is to measure, mark and drill the holes. This means that, within the bounds of the size and shape of the pieces of carbon of course, that there is some degree of control and customisation to be had in how far out the arch guards / mud flaps sit which is really cool - I love a bit of customisation!

Installation is pretty easy and fairly quick - certainly much quicker than traditional style mud flaps as the carbon being so light means that they are installed, and done so very securely, using two of the wheel arch liner push pins instead of needing a whole set of brackets and screws. This also means that returning to stock if desired is very quick and easy also.

I really love the discrete and classy, upmarket look of these arch guards / flaps in conjunction with my SD wheel spacers and perhaps this is the beginning of a new set of carbon mods...
