I have got my hands on a Mountune cat back exhaust V3 for my MK3 Ford Focus RS! These are often sold out on the Mountune store but I got in there well in advance of planning to install so now I get to complete the install and see how much of an improvement over stock it is!

There are multiple reasons for getting the Mountune V3 Focus RS exhaust including aesthetics with the larger and shinier exhaust tips with laser etched Mountune logo, for a sound upgrade having larger bore pipe work and a specially designed back box design, the sound is tuned for the character of the RS as well as for increased volume and as far as performance goes, it is lighter than stock and removes restriction found in the standard RS exhaust system in terms of the larger bore tubing and the removal of the flat 'pancake' section that exists in the stock setup. This should mean that pickup will feel faster and more eager - something that I will test after the install!

I show the full installation process including removal of the stock Focus RS exhaust which requires cutting it and then removal of exhaust hangers, etc. before then showing how the new Mountune V3 exhaust is installed piece by piece which includes both v-band clamps / connections and more regular type clamps with double slip joints for the different exhaust sections.

I round off this video with some sound comparisons. There is a very scientific (kind of but perhaps not entirely accurate but should give a good indication!) comparison of cold start between stock and V3 RS exhausts with a decibel meter and then a comparison / showcase of some revs!

I also retain the exhaust valve delete from my standard MK3 Ford Focus RS exhaust setup as I have enjoyed having it so I want to see what it is like in comparison when installed in conjunction with the Mountune V3 exhaust!

Valve delete keeps the valve open permanently so the exhaust will be on full loudness always and also will stop the error code caused by the valve sticking ever showing!

Also, as the exhaust is next to the ground, it will be subjected to weather elements as well as dust, dirt, stones so in order to protect the finish, I ceramic coat using Gtechniq C5 Wheel Armour. This is top quality ceramic coating provides a high level of hardness & durability while also being heat resistant providing protection for 2 years!
