Troubles have mounted for mining official Debabrata Mohanty as the Enforcement Directorate and the Income Tax Department are set to investigate financial transactions worth crores of rupees. The two central agencies have reportedly sought detailed information from the State Vigilance.

On the other hand, Vigilance is planning to register a disproportionate assets case against Mohanty and may take him on remand for questioning. The probe is expected to focus on alleged financial irregularities and misuse of funds.

Meanwhile, serious questions are being raised over the delay in the 2009 bribery case against Mohanty. Even after 17 years, the trial has not been concluded, prompting concerns over why the verdict is still pending.
