The promise of green jobs over the coming decades as the UK decarbonises its economy is high. The UK Government’s Net Zero Strategy talks about ‘up to 440,000 jobs across net zero industries in 2030.’ Yet how can we deliver on this promise in the face of current labour market pressures, wage competition, skills shortages and the risk of wage-driven inflation?
This event, hosted by the Centre for Energy Policy at the University of Strathclyde, brings together representatives from Government, industry, trade unions and academics to discuss what action is required to ensure the UK’s transition to Net Zero preserves and supports good quality, sustainable jobs, is economically-efficient and delivers more equitable prosperity.
