Ambient piece from MYLING's upcoming full length album 'Häxeri' (hopefull to finally be released during 2020). The video was filmed during the spring of 2013 when the line-up of the band was different. Featured in the video are: Orm, Manulv and Nattmara.
Blåkulla ('the blue hill' or 'the black hill') is the traditional Swedish name for the place where witches are believed to gather for feasts and orgies. Similar to the German place of Blocksberg/Brocken. In Swedish folklore the witches fly to Blåkulla on the Sheer Thursday to be in time for the gathering that is said to take place during the Good Friday, when they celebrate the death of Christ together with the Devil. However behind this obvious Christian side there probably lies a much older tradition of fertility rites in connection with the spring equinox. There are notes of ritual fertility gatherings of women up on hills/mountains in Thrace already during ancient Greek era. Hypothetically we therefore can't exclude some sort of common Indo-European roots in these kind of cults!
In Swedish folklore Blåkulla has often been located to the island Blå Jungfrun (between the mainland province Småland and the island province Öland).
