A roundtable discussion with Trinidadian filmmaker Shari Petti and collaborative partners from the recent Mas + Movies event in London.
Trinidadian director and producer Shari Petti discusses Mas + Movies, her event series that brings Caribbean Carnival arts onto the big screen and into the cinema space. Launched in Port of Spain and recently making its UK debut at Rio Cinema in London, the series offers a screening experience that brings to life the storytelling, joyful celebration and spirit of resistance at the heart of Carnival.
Shari Petti is joined by collaborative partners from the Rio event, including Rosie Greatorex (Director, Rio Cinema), Corrina Antrobus (Culture Lead, Hackney Council, and Founder of Bechdel Test Fest), and Marva Antoine (Carnvial Ambassador, Tropical Isles Masband). The discussion is moderated by Rosa Codina (Senior lecturer in tourism and events management, Oxford Brookes University).
This event was part of the 6th International Creative Industries Festival organised by the Creative Industries Research and Innovation Network at Oxford Brookes University.
