*WARNING* Working with electricity is dangerous!!! If you do not understand the basics of electricity, please do not attempt the following project. Failure to use care around electrical devices may result in injury or death. If you choose to attempt this project, you do so at your own risk! Please be careful. This concludes the death disclaimer...
This is the first video in a series involving the repair and restoration of a Seeburg SHP3 Super High Power amplifier. Not just high power, but SUPER HIGH power. While this video will serve to help you become slightly familiar with the amplifier, I will try to describe some of the common failures associated with the model, as well as issues with this particular unit. I hope it will be entertaining and aid in your own attempts to repair a similar amp.
As stated in the above disclaimer, considerable care should be taken before attempting any repair on this, or any amplifier. Current limiting and isolation transformers should always be used when working under and electrified chassis. If you have no real interest in electronics, but maybe are just trying to save a few bucks, please consider taking it to a professional or at least someone that can help you safely inspect and repair your device. It is not worth your health or life. Notice there are two separate disclaimers? Yes, it is that serious.
In following videos, I will show some of the inspection and repair process, as well as the final adjustments and clean up work. I am not sure how many videos I will end up filming, but I am up for the challenge and I hope you follow along. Feel free to comment and I you enjoy this video, please like and subscribe for more repair videos in the future. As always, I hope you enjoy the video and have a great day.
