Ingredients
2–3 cups Oha leaves (washed and torn)
500 g beef or goat meat
1 cup cocoyam (for thickening)or (Achi Powder)
1 cup stockfish (optional)
1 cup dry fish (optional)
3 tbsp palm oil
1–2 tbsp ground crayfish
1 seasoning cube (like Maggi)
1 small onion
1 tsp ground pepper
Salt to taste
6–7 cups water
Step-by-Step Method
Cook the cocoyam
Wash and peel the cocoyam.
Boil until soft.
Pound or blend it into a smooth paste.
Set aside (this will thicken the soup).
Cook the meat
Put meat, onion, salt, seasoning cube, and a little water in a pot.
Cook until the meat becomes soft.
Add stockfish and dry fish if using.
Pour palm oil into the pot.
Allow it to boil with the meat stock.
Add cocoyam paste(Or Achi Powder)
Add small lumps of the pounded cocoyam into the soup.
Allow it to dissolve and thicken the soup.
Stir gently.
Ground crayfish
Pepper
Salt if needed
Another seasoning cube (optional)
Let it cook for 5–7 minutes.
Add Oha leaves
1. Add the Oha leaves last.
2. Stir gently.
3. Cook for 2–3 minutes only (do not overcook).
✅ Your Oha soup is ready!
Serve hot with:
• Pounded Yam
• Fufu
• Eba
