The Palestine Emergency - The Start of an Everlasting War

In something a touch more topical, we look back on the Palestine Emergency, the outcome of Britain and France's decision to carve up the Levant between themselves following the defeat of the Ottoman Empire at the end of World War I.

However, contrary to their occupation of Mandatory Palestine, the British had promised the region to both the Arabs and the Jews, with both sides taking up arms against the colonial rulers, which has led to a near-constant state of war between the two factions as they attempt to seize the land each side proclaims to be rightfully theirs.
