Today’s ride takes us from rural Morris, PA to Trout Run, PA, cruising through quiet valleys, wooded ridges, and backroads that feel like they were designed by someone who just said, “Eh… close enough.” Along this route, you’re traveling through territory that once hosted the famous Morris rattlesnake hunts of the late 1800s and early 1900s. Every spring, locals gathered to hunt timber rattlers in the surrounding hills, collecting bounties and turning it into a full-blown community event—part wildlife control, part town festival, part “I hope nobody gets bitten today.” Thousands of snakes were reportedly turned in over the years, making Morris nationally known for something most towns would politely decline to be famous for.

As we head south, the landscape slowly shifts from rugged highlands to smoother river valleys near Trout Run. This area grew alongside Pennsylvania’s lumber industry, with logs once floated downstream and hauled out by wagon teams on roads that—no joke—still shape today’s driving routes. Basically, if your GPS feels confused, blame 19th-century loggers.
