Do you know that a must-do activity in Vienna is Cafe hopping. Why? Because "Viennese Coffee House Culture" is listed as UNESCO's "Intangible Cultural Heritage". Typical Coffee Houses provide a large variety of coffee and pastry creations. Unique things about the coffee houses here are marble tabletops, newspaper tables, and classic interior design.

Now, let's sip some coffee at some of the most popular coffee houses in Vienna!

*** Cafe Sperl

First, let me introduce to you 'Cafe Sperl'. Opened since 1880, this cafe is located in Central Vienna. Local people come here for great coffee and a wide variety of current daily, weekly and monthly newspapers. We find billiard tables and children's corner here too.


*** Cafe Museum

The Second cafe is the one opened in 1899 - Café Museum. This is right next to subway station, very easy to come. My first impression is all the tempting pastries displayed at the front part. Second impression is the smell of coffee. And my third impression is the elegantly dressed waiters. There are no seatings here. you seat yourself!


*** Cafe Central

Then, come to Cafe Central, a legendary cafe located on the ground floor of the former Bank and Stockmarket building, a short walking distance from St. Stephen's Cathedral. Vienna's main attractions and shopping streets are within easy reach.


*** Figlmüller

If there is one signature dish from Vienna that you must try, that dish would be 'Schnitzel' which is a thin slice of fried pork or beef. The meats are breaded before frying. This dish originated from Austria and now has been popular in many other countries too, so you will find Schnitzel made from chicken, mutton, or even turkey too.

Figlmüller is a very famous restaurant for Schnitzel because the Schnitzel here is tender, juicy, and is covered in a crispy coating. Plus, potato salad is a wonderful side dish. I have to visit this place every time I come to Vienna. It has been here for over a century and the location is very easy to find, near St. Stephen's Cathedral. This is a great place to chat with friends, enjoy good food, and sip great wine!


*** Glacis Beisl

Vienna is famous for museums, so I guarantee you will be so happy strolling around MuseumsQuartier and enjoying several pieces of arts. In this area, there is also a pretty bistro popular for Schnitzel. Local people love the gardens and great vibes here.


*** Bitzinger Sausage Stands

Albertinaplatz is a great square of the world! I feel that this area is so picturesque. There are so many angles and corners to take great photos. The Vienna Tourist Information Office and the State Opera House are around this area. So, it is quite central.

You will witness the long queue of one sausage stand day and night, this is the famous 'Bitzinger', Viennese sausage that we will try today.

Bitzinger also has another location at the Giant Ferries Wheel in Prater.

*** Thai Lotus Restaurant

As a Thai person, when I travel and crave for Thai food, I always look for Thai restaurants in that town. Fortunately, I know P'Ni who owns a restaurant here named 'Thai Lotus' which has got THAI SELECT certification. That means the taste of the food here is authentic Thai. I am sure this evening will be a wonderful one.
