The author:
Italian tenor Marco Beasley, the founder of the ensemble Accordone, studied music at the University of Bologna. As a singer, actor, and writer, he embraces the carefree soul of Naples, the joie de vivre of making music along with a desire to inculcate poetry and literature. His timbre—a very particular vocal technique, which is the result of extensive personal and historical research—his love of words, and a predisposition for expressiveness has resulted in a variety of vocal colors and registers enabling the creation of a musical approach in which joy and burlesque irreverence give way to a more plaintive and solitary style. His vocal and expressive qualities united with his sensibility and fantasy have resulted in original interpretations and reinterpretations covering a range of musical styles and periods. Nominated for Best Performer of the Year by the Dutch VSCD (Association of Theater and Concert Halls) in 2009, his concert career has taken him to venues like the Mozarteum in Salzburg, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome, to the Lincoln Center in New York.
