Studying and teaching an art, for me, remains a constant process of evolution. Almost a year ago we started with a number of (v1.0) videos on fundamentals:

Today we REVISIT the elements of cuts/attacks and footwork, taking this opportunity to add a few updates (e.g. a 4th important Oberhau / Hi Cut pattern: the Abnehmen / Taking Off), all in the form of an SINGLE UPDATED VIDEO to remind folks of our current best understanding of what the key fundamentals might be for the German longsword:

24:40 FOOTWORK: Footwork 1): Same Side / Doubling Steps
25:38 Footwork 1a) Stepping Sideways -- Single & Double Triangels / Triangles
26:09 Footwork 2) Alternating Sides (aka simply "Stepping" or "Walking"...!)
28:45 Footwork 3) Box Step (key 4-step pattern, important for optimal pivoting!)
30:13 Footwork 3a) Cross-stepping Sideways Box Step (aka modern grapevine or carioca; note the natural twisted stepping...!!!)
30:45 Footwork 3b) Zig-Zag Sideways Box Step (note the natural lean...!!!)
...COMING SOON: once again showing how these fundamentals help us much better interpret and unlock techniques from the sources (e.g. J Meyer, PH Mair, the Bauman fechtbuch, and even sources from the early part of the tradition like von Danzig / Stahremberg, etc -- really the tradition as a WHOLE)...!!!
