President Penpa Tsering of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) has urged the Canadian government to take a stronger stance on Tibet, highlighting concerns over state-run boarding schools eroding Tibetan language, culture, and identity under Chinese rule.
Speaking at the Parliamentary Press Gallery in Ottawa, he stressed the urgency of protecting Tibet’s unique heritage.
Several Canadian MPs and civil society representatives stood in solidarity with Tibet, drawing parallels between Canada’s own history with residential schools and the ongoing situation in Tibet.
President Tsering warned that Tibet risks losing an entire generation to cultural assimilation if these policies continue.
Emphasizing the Middle Way Approach, President Tsering reaffirmed the CTA’s commitment to peaceful coexistence with China, seeking genuine autonomy, not independence.
